The Process behind booking a Oxfordshire Family Photoshoot

Family photoshoots are a great way to capture precious moments! Whether it’s for a special occasion or “just because”, you won’t regret having this moment in your families lives captured to enjoy now, and in years to come.

However, I also know that the process of preparing for a family photoshoot can seem quite stressful. Thinking of all the when’s, where’s and how-to’s, especially with little ones running around, can feel overwhelming.

As a Cotswold family photographer, I love to give my clients a calm and authentic experience from start to finish. So, I wanted to share the process behind having a Cotswold family photoshoot session, from booking your session to the day itself, all to help you get the most out of this exciting experience.

The Process behind booking a Family Photoshoot

  • Booking the Session

  • Picking the Day and Time

  • Choosing Your Location

  • Choosing Your Outfits

  • The Photoshoot Day

  • Getting Your Photos

Booking the Session

The first step of the process is booking your photoshoot with me. The enquiry process is simple, fill in the contact form, ask any questions you might have, and choose from my bespoke maternity, newborn, milestone, motherhood and family photography packages.

Picking the Day and Time

I have a very flexible schedule, to ensure that the day and time you choose for your family photoshoot suits you and your family. Whether the time is after your toddler’s morning nap, or at the weekend when everyone is at home, I’m sure we will find the best time for your family! And, if you’d like a sunrise or sunset family photoshoot, those options are available during the sunnier months of the year.

Choosing Your Location

The next step is choosing a location for your family photo shoot! You can choose to have the session in my cosy Oxfordshire photography studio, from the comfort of your home or go adventuring into the great outdoors!

If you choose to have your family photoshoot at home, I will be setting up next to the largest source of natural light available. So, I’d suggest giving this area a little sweep and a quick tidy-up, so it saves us time on the day.

If you choose to have your family photoshoot in my Oxfordshire photography studio, you get access to a comfy and relaxing space. The studio is ready and set up to welcome you and your family. There’s no need to worry about the weather conditions or tidying up your home. I also have tea and coffee, as well as a variety of snacks available for everyone to enjoy.

If you’d like to go on location then I have a selection of beautiful Oxfordshire locations you can choose from. However, there really are no restrictions on where we can go for your family photo shoot, however, additional travel costs will apply if we are going outside of Oxfordshire.

Choosing Your Outfits

Coming up with outfit ideas for your family photoshoot can feel like the most daunting task. But you don’t have to worry! Before the session, you will receive a comprehensive style guide to give you inspiration and guidance.

I recommend having a couple of outfit options for the whole family. However, to help you ease any wardrobe worries, I also have a range of outfits from my client wardrobe that you’re welcome to borrow.

Here’s what you’d find in my wardrobe:

  • A range of children’s outfits for ages 0-5 years old.

  • A beautiful selection of women’s dresses and clothes in a range of different sizes, materials and colours.

  • For older children, I offer further styling advice with buying options from affordable high-street brands.

The Photoshoot Day

On the day of the shoot, you get a relaxed and children-led family photoshoot session at your chosen date and location. Come along, have fun and embrace the experience of the shoot, while I’ll capture all the candid and loving moments that make your family so magical!

Getting Your Photos

Once your family photo shoot session is all done, I’ll build your bespoke client gallery featuring all the best moments. This process will take between two-three weeks.

Then you will receive a personal link via email to view your beautiful images. You will be able to choose your favourite images using features within the gallery. Once you’ve made your final selection I will do a final and detailed retouching process, which will take another two weeks.

There are ten beautifully edited images included in the family package, however, you can choose to purchase additional images for an additional price.

Are you Ready for your Family Photoshoot?

My family photoshoot package is perfect for you if you want to capture real, un-posed moments, all your personalities, and the love that you share for each other.
